When
the first white settlers arrived on the West Coast of the South
Island of New Zealand they found that the Maori were using tough,
hard and very beautiful green stone to make war weapons, cutting
and carving tools and articles of personal adornment.
The
Maori called the stone Pounamu, which liberally translated means
Green Stone. The settlers, unaware of the fact that the stone
was in fact Nephrite Jade, put the two words together and gave
it the distinctive name - Greenstone - and it is still known
in New Zealand by this name.
Surreal
in its beauty, the Maori used this Greenstone in their carvings
and as a Taonga (treasure).
Greenstone
has become a New Zealand icon, its numerous natural uses making
it a part of New Zealand heritage.
Only
premium quality greenstone is used in these designs ensuring
they are rich in colour.
Packaging
is an important part of presenting this beautiful design. Every

(presentation box) with a description of the unique design chosen.
