POLYNESIAN CARVINGS

Polynesian Carvings have a very special feel about them, unlike anything else ever experienced. It is believed that Polynesian carvings worn with respect or given and received with love, take on part of the spirit of those who may wear or handle it. The Polynesian Carvings become spiritual links between people spanning time and distance. In that regard, a polynesian carving that has been worn by family or tribal members over many generations contains the spirit of all of those people and is truly a powerful treasure.

Polynesian Carvings in Bone have a milky white appearance and soft flowing lines which are soft and warm to the touch yet the finish is like polished glass, and the carvings  they seem to blend with your body and become part of the wearer, especially when worn as a pendant against your skin. Over a period of time bone carvings absorb oils from your skin and change colour to a very light honey gold. The Maori believe this to be the carving taking on some of your spirituality or essence and thus truly becoming a part of the wearer.

Polynesian Carvings come in a number of designs, one of which is the Tiki design. Tiki was a very respected symbol, seen as the teacher of all things. The wearer of a Tiki Polynesian bone carving therefore possesses strength of character, loyalty, clarity of thought, and great inner knowledge. Other Polynesian Carvings include the Koru, a circular design which represents peace, tranquility, and a strong sense of regrowth and new beginnings. The Hei Matau (fish hook) is another traditional Polynesian Carving indicating good luck, strength, prosperity, and abundance in the wearer. These Polynesian Carvings were once used for practical fishing purposes. The Manaia carving is thought to carry great spiritual significance, regarded as a guardian against evil to defend the wearer from bad spiritual energy.

The polynesian bone carvings stocked at NZpacific.com also include many other beautiful unique designs in bone, greenstone, and shell.

Every Polynesian carving purchased through NZ Pacific is presented with a braided or platted waxed braid cord, along with native flax bag woven to show the traditional styling and beauty of the carving. Also supplied is an attractive information sheet telling the meaning of the particular Polynesian Carving.

We ship to USA, Asia, UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Asia and the rest of the world.

"I seldom respond to a purchase, but I feel compelled to this time. I just received the Koru / Whale Tail carving and I am, to put it mildly, very, very pleased. Not only were my expectations met they have been exceeded. Please convey my appreciation of the design and craftsmanship to the artist(s). And thank you for the fine service. I will recommend you to my divers and instructors as I know this piece is going to generate questions. Wishing you and your artists every success..." Jeff Simpson - Plano, Texas
