Mon Ami Biography

Henry Marks vocals – keys - harmonicas

Simon Park   guitars – percussion - drums

Rupert Mackintosh   guitar – vocals - violin

With qualities likened to both Crowded House and Simon & Garfunkel , Mon Ami is a fusion of folk and rock music intertwined around drifting vocal melodies , harmonicas , quirky guitar rhythms and softened by warm piano.

Mon Ami started in 2004 as Henry Marks and Simon Park - two individuals from Wellington who combined to further a unique sound nurtured over the past ten years.  2005 saw the addition of Rupert Mackintosh to the band , bringing additional guitar , vocal harmonies and searing fiddle lines to the Mon Ami sound.

Having shared the stage live with Greg Johnson , The Phoenix Foundation , Age Prior , Tommy and Barnaby Weir's Fly My Pretties , Mon Ami's live performances include appearances at Wellington's Chow Cabaret , Bar Bodega , the 2005 Resonate Showcase (British Council NZ) , the 2005 Wellington Showcase , the Island Bay Festival and TVNZ's Good Morning show and Sport's Cafe.

Since recording their debut album in 2005 (which is due for release this year) , the now three piece act , with its expanded sound , has an exciting 2006 ahead of them.  With dates booked around the country and abroad , keep an eye out for Mon Ami in a town near you...
