TITIAN - named after that wondrous Italian Renaissance painter.
The colours and layered texture of the stone will immediately capture your attention - if this piece of jade was painted by the Master, he would use the lively brushstrokes and splashes of colour that set his work apart. This is a unique, fabulous pendant.
We've plaited a custom necklace in Tan and Black combo coloured cord and drawn the Black colour down into the lashing.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The jade used to carve these pieces comes from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island. It has been created in the alpine fault and has worked its way down an alpine river in the Marsden region outside Greymouth. Tough jade with a lot of history!
These pendants are traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We will ship this beautiful pendant to you with DHL Express Courier, bound in a hand plaited adjustable cord. We will also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
