We're very fond of the Koru design and its symbolism here at NZ Pacific - love always springs to mind when you see the koru. They are a symbol of the future, of a new start and of hope.
This little koru, TABUA, is carved from a cross section of rare Sperm Whale tooth, immortalising the life of these wonderful giant pelagic mammals. Take a look at the photos and the brief video which shows the pendant revolving - it is a lovely little piece of unique jewellery.
A beautifully hand carved Koru pendant for you... or someone you love.
This pendant was carved from a Sperm Whale Tooth. We don't use any bleach or other whitening agents so the variability you can see in the colour is natural. Over time it will become a lovely golden colour as it absorbs natural oils from your body.
Koru is the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design graphically represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic for new life, new beginnings, hope, perfection, rebirth, a new start, awakening, personal growth, purity, nurturing, a new phase (in life), the spirit of rejuvenation, and peace.
We will ship this on a hand plaited adjustable cord and will also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Koru design.
