NEW ARRIVAL
OASIS - a fertile spot in a desert, or a place to shelter from the storm.....
This is a beauty! A New Zealand Flower Jade Toki hand carved by Ross Crump. OASIS is a wonderful pendant carved from a very striking piece of jade - a bright green colour at the top that morphs into minty, milky green and pale gold tones towards the bottom of the blade.
We'll let the photos, and the video, speak for OASIS - it will be a piece to wear and treasure.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The jade used to carve this stunning Toki came from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island, from the Marsden valley. It was created in the alpine fault and shaped and given further character in our alpine rivers.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
