NEW ARRIVAL
CORNERSTONE - a beautiful jade Toki. A solid and substantial piece that will be a permanent companion for someone - their CORNERSTONE
This hearty pendant will make a great travel companion and a reminder (in stone) of where you come from.
CORNERSTONE is handcarved from a mid-green New Zealand pounamu. We have this on a brown coloured, adjustable four plait cord and we will ship this worldwide with an express courier service.
Postage is included.
We are delighted to have these first pieces from Kyohei Noguchi - a relatively young artist who we think is a super talent. CORNERSTONE is finely crafted and a great example of traditional jade carving.
CORNERSTONE can be worn reversed - each side is quite distinct and shows the wonderful carving and design. A large and substantial toki. Definitely watch the video we have made of this piece slowly revolving. This best reveals the shape and the thickness of the design.
THE TOKI - it's history and meaning...
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
This is a one-off piece and will make someone very happy!
Shipped with DHL Express Courier. We will also include our 'Kia Ora' card, explaining the meaning behind the Toki design.
