VICTORY - a triumph of form and material!
Hand carved from gorgeous New Zealand Jade - this is a wonderful little toki. Carved from a piece of jade with tons of character, it has little fractures, wonderful colour variation and a simple, slender and very attractive form.
This pendant is bound with a Burnt Gold binding and Black cord to add a little contrast and 'zip' to this very cool little pendant. Take a look at the video to see the shape of the pendant and the variability in the stone.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We have one only, and this piece will be removed from our site when sold. We will also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
