THE GREY ESCAPE is a long, slender Toki designed and carved by Kerry Thompson. It is carved from palish grey coloured piece of argillite and beautifully polished.
Carved with Kerry's exceptional attention to detail, this is a faultless carving. The design is a little reminiscent of a carved pillar - the central channel captures the eye and gives this slender piece a grace and sense of power that seems to be greater than the scale of the piece.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, highly valued for the roles it played in construction and defence. The smaller carved design is really a homage to the importance of this tool.
