A stunning large, detailed manaia carved from a lovely piece of rare flower jade.
This is a wonderfully carved piece of jade - dark green through to a soft milky green through the bottom arch and tail. Ross has incorporated a koru spiral in the tail of this carving giving it an interesting symbology:
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
We will ship this stunning Manaia to you with DHL Express Courier on a hand plaited, adjustable Wapiti cord. We will also include our 'Kia Ora' card, explaining the meaning behind the Manaia and Koru design.
