This is a beautiful carving! A large koropepe pendant handcarved for us by Kyohei Noguchi. Kyohei has used a clean darkish green New Zealand Marsden jade for this pendant - a wonderful piece of stone and really well utilised in this carving. Relative to the overall size, the jade has been finely carved which lets the light in, particularly around the edges - this lends it a slightly ethereal look which is perfect for the design.
Kyohei has buffed it to a soft sheen - a very fine pendant that can be worn by anyone who likes and appreciates larger sized, traditional wearable artwork.

MESSAGE RECEIVED has a lovely symbolism combining two shapes that are important in our local culture: the manaia and the koru.
The birds head on this manaia symbolises your Guardian Spirit. Traditional belief is that it will guide you and keep you safe on your journey through life. It is a symbol of youth, new beginnings and prosperity.
The koru symbolises new life, the central spiral shape represents an unfolding silver fern frond - the beginning of its life. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.
