A finely-carved manaia crafted from New Zealand flower jade. This beautiful pendant is a gorgeous pale green colour that Ross has highlighted beautifully in this traditional pendant.
Ross has incorporated a koru spiral in the tail, combining a couple of shapes well-known in the South Pacific, and giving it an interesting symbology:
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
We will ship this pendant to you with DHL Express Courier on a hand plaited adjustable cord. We will also include our 'Kia Ora' cards, explaining the meaning behind both the Manaia and Koru design.
