Rūaumoko - the God of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and the Seasons.

Rūaumoko - an important God and central to events that are common in our land. This piece is a real beauty! Carved from a very rare piece of Nelson Kokopu jade. The stone comes from the Nelson region in the North of the South Island of New Zealand. This jade is not often found and is a beautiful soft green with minute dark speckles throughout. It is a stone named after a similarly coloured native fish found in streams throughout New Zealand.

Tim has taken this wonderful stone and has created a standout piece. It is quite large and visually imposing. Beautiful worn or displayed this is a piece of carved art that you will appreciate.

This piece has a lovely symbolism combining two shapes that are important in our local culture: the manaia and the koru.

The birds head on this manaia symbolises your Guardian Spirit. Traditional belief is that it will guide you and keep you safe on your journey through life. It is a symbol of youth, new beginnings and prosperity.

The koru symbolises new life, the central spiral shape represents an unfolding silver fern frond - the beginning of its life. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.

This is a fabulous pendant if you're embarking on new challenges. A partner to keep you company.

We provide this with a four-plaited adjustable cord.

Also included, our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind both the Koru and Manaia design.
