Dolphins - called Aihe in Māori, are regarded as spirits that live in the ocean, supernatural creatures that were believed sometimes intervened to assist humans. This piece is carved resting on a bed of traditional design - a spirit carried by its history.
WATER SPIRIT - a beautiful dolphin carved into the side of a deer antler tine. Made for us by master bone carver - Fumio Noguchi. Fumio is a master of detail and he applies traditional techniques from New Zealand and Japan to carve spectacular artwork In the top of this pendant Fumio has placed a beautiful piece of Pāua Shell, and the eye of the dolphin is made of Goat Horn.
WATER SPIRIT is a unique and creative piece, hand carved from deer antler. We have made a very brief video of the pendant slowly revolving - this will give you a clear picture of the skill of the carver.
WATER SPIRIT - is carved from the dense part of the antler - the tip - so it is a tough and resilient pendant - it is made to be worn.
