This is a beautiful, hand crafted manaia - carved by Ross Crump. FOOT SOLDIER has a polished finish which gives it a lovely glow - a piece to wear every day!
A wonderful large manaia hand carved from New Zealand Flower Jade. The stone is a deep green with a gorgeous flowering orange vein of colour running up the left side and bursting onto the back. It not only looks beautiful but feels comfortable on your skin - the Pounamu warms up a little when you've been wearing it for a while, this is one of the many reasons we love this stone!
Ross has incorporated a koru spiral in the tail which gives it an interesting symbology:
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
