Mammoth Tusk - Fantastic Grain, Wonderful Colours... every piece unique!

Mangō Taniwha - the great white shark, sometimes called the 'wolf of the sea', is an ancient marine survivor at risk of extinction.

These pendants are hand carved from mammoth tusk recovered from the North American tundra - an ancient material for an ancient sea dweller. These are a gorgeous honey-gold colour with exceptional grain definition. We have one piece in a light creamy colour - this is the pendant on the Safari Green Cord.

The Mammoth Tusk used for this piece is CERTIFIED 34,690 YEARS OLD (+/- 815 years).

We had our mammoth material carbon dated to get an accurate measure of its age. The testing was done for us by GNS Science, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute and New Zealand's leading provider of Earth, geoscience and isotope research - so their assessment of this material is as accurate as is possible using radiocarbon dating technology.

Mango Taniwha are provided with hand plaited, adjustable cords in Black, Kalahari Brown and Safari Green.
