SCALLOPED KORU

SCALLOPED KORU - striking koru pendants carved in New Zealand jade.
Kerry has used a New Zealand Marsden Jade for these two beautiful Koru. It is a wonderful piece of stone - textured and rich with a mix of colours - subtle hints of orange throughout the greens, all highlighted with a soft, velvety polish.
These pendants are a medium size. We asked Kerry to carve these in a slightly smaller size because we received such a strong, positive response to this gorgeous scalloped design.
Kerry carves these pieces to symbolise, and reflect on, the ups and downs one confronts on the journey through life. Like the koru's spiral shape, there are ups and downs in every life - and it should be filled with promise of renewal and growth.
SCALLOPED KORU is provided with a adjustable cord. Please use the drop-down menu to select the piece you'd like to receive. We have two of these pieces - but they are slightly different. One has a smoothly rounded bottom edge, the other a small accent.
Please view the brief video we have taken of these two pieces slowly revolving - this shows the beautiful stone and Kerry's faultless carving.
SCALLOPED KORU is a carefully thought through pendant, with considerable history sitting behind the design.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
The shape is streamlined, gloriously curved and quite unique. Take a look at the video and you will appreciate the artistry of this beautiful piece.
