The pounamu comes from the Arahura river near Hokatika on the West Coast. It is a beautiful stone.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe taonga is named Wairua Herekore which means free spirit.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe bone on top contains three main korus. In general, the koru represents the unfolding of new life, new beginnings and growth. The overall form symbolises the connection and meaning we have in relation to the world around us.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe bottom half of this taonga is pounamu. This represents strength, stability and being grounded. With a solid foundation, many great things may be constructed upon this.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cem\u003eIn between the bone and pounamu is an inlay of brass. Brass is conductive. As such, this represents the flow of energy from above to below and visa versa.
