BREAKING WAVE - this pendant reminds us of a wave, cresting and breaking on the shore. It is large, beautifully carved - a fantastic example of this traditional design.
The finish is a soft polish, buffed to a point where the stone is best highlighted. This particular finish allows the colours in this jade to come to the fore.
We hand-plaited a Maui Blue and Manuka Green cord which is length adjustable. Take a look at the brief video - this shows the variation in colour in the jade and the wonderful carving.
This is a beautiful pendant if you are looking for a standout piece of handmade jewellery. A wooden box is included and adds to the fine craftsmanship of this piece. The box is made from recovered Kauri wood - a native New Zealand tree.
The koru is worn as a symbol of re-birth, growth and development. It represents the unfurling fronds of the fern, and is typically carved with delicate spirals and decorative swirls - this is a superb example.
