MASK OFF - a traditional wheku face ring carved in bone.
A beautifully carved, bone wheku ring. A unisex ring that is wonderfully detailed, a little different and it just makes you feel good when you slip it on!
The Wheku is generally found carved in wood at the apex of the gable on a Wharenui, a Maori meeting house. The wheku represents tribal ancestors, so it is a meaningful symbol of important people in the tribe's history.
This ring age beautifully. It will change colour over time, becoming a golden honey colour, as it absorbs body oils and adapts to the wearers lifestyle.
WEAR IT AS A PENDANT... if you would prefer, we can place this ring on an adjustable cord for you - just let us know in the comments section at checkout.
