MESSENGER OF LIGHT - a stunning, pale minty green Manaia that is semi-translucent when held to the light. This gorgeous pendant, carved from New Zealand INANGA Jade might serve as your MESSENGER OF LIGHT.
A subtle, gorgeous jade pendant hand carved by Master Jade Carver and Artist, Ross Crump. This piece is beautiful - delicately carved from a sublime piece of New Zealand Inanga Pounamu.
Ross has incorporated a koru spiral in the tail, combining a couple of shapes well-known in the South Pacific, and giving it an interesting symbology:
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
