PAPATŪĀNUKU - MOTHER EARTH
A large, triple twist with a fine central koru. This is a beautiful piece, one of the most beautiful in this design that we have seen! Carved for us by Ross Crump - he has again, carved a pendant with the stone he is working with at the front and centre of the design.
PAPATŪĀNUKU is a remarkably lively pendant - the stone is a beautiful and rare Marsden Jade. If this piece impresses you, we recommend you snap it up - pieces like this are uncommon.
We've added a hand-plaited 4-strand cord in Fern Green, with a Sage Floret. The cord is length adjustable.
Look at the photos and watch the short video that we have made showing this pendant slowly revolving. It will give you the best views of the carving and the varied colours in the jade.
PAPATŪĀNUKU - a wonderful, large and unique pendant.
The twist carving with its crisscross form represents the many paths of life and love and as such is regarded as the original eternity symbol. The single twist carving represents the joining together of two people for eternity. Its shape describes the way relationships shift, sometimes moving apart, but coming together as a couple share their lives.
It represents how the strong bond of friendship, loyalty and love last forever.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
Shipping with Express Courier is included in the price.
We will also include our 'Kia Ora' cards, explaining the meaning behind both the twist and koru designs.
