TANGERINE DREAM
We are delighted to introduce hand crafted work from a new artist, Conrad Henderson. Conrad specialises in working with New Zealand Kauri Gum - a gorgeous, varied gum from our native Kauri tree. This gum has spent a good part of its life buried in swampland locked up in fallen Kauri - it is quite rare and very beautiful - especially in the hands of a talented artist!
How about something really unique - a Kauri Gum Toki pendant. The gum is ancient - a by-product of the mighty Kauri tree, and the toki is a revered symbol of the adze - a tool used to craft waka and build whare and marae. This is a piece with quite a backstory.
Kauri Gum is the fossilised resin of the Kauri Tree, a rare piece of history from Kauri trees long gone. It is an amber not a stone.
Look at the photos and watch the brief video - you'll appreciate the lovely, chunky design and the depth and colour variation in the material.
As an adornment, the Toki, or Adze, is said to bring courage and strength in times of adversity. It is a symbol of courage and strength in times of adversity and is often worn by Māori elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.
This piece is provided with a black adjustable cord and will be shipped with care instructions and a buffer cloth to maintain the gum's original shine. Also included a lovely traditional hand made pouch.
Also included, our 'Kia ora' card, which explain the meaning behind the Toki design.
ONE ONLY.
Shipping with DHL Express Courier included in the price.
