THE RUSTLER - this gorgeous matau/hook pendant would catch the wiliest sea dweller!
We have called it THE RUSTLER because it sneaks up on you and steals your heart!
A skilfully crafted matau pendant, hand carved from New Zealand Marsden Jade.
The matau is a traditional shape reflecting the sea-faring traditions of Pacific People. Also called a hook these designs have long been worn as decorative jewellery. They are a symbol of prosperity and are believed to protect the wearer when travelling - especially over water.
THE RUSTLER is a beautifully carved piece, graceful and light it has been carved with a high degree of perfection. The hook is slightly offset and all the curves are smooth and clean. This is a carving masterclass!
The hook: The wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.
We provide this with a four plait beige coloured adjustable cord. Also included, our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Hook design.
