THE WINGMAN
Hand carved by Ric Moor, THE WINGMAN is made from New Zealand Kawakawa jade. What's cool about this piece is the semi-translucent outer edges that display the black inclusions spread throughout the jade - typically found in this type of stone.
THE WINGMAN is a manaia design. These are considered guardians and were traditionally worn to remember ancestors. This piece is well worthy of that role.
In this carving, the body of the manaia culminates in a fish tail - a gentle organic detail which complements with the edgy detail of the carved head. This establishes a connection between the ocean and the land - perfect for a piece that comes from an island nation.
Take a moment to watch the short video we have made which shows the pendant slowly rotating. This will give you a very clear picture of the shape nuances and the colour of the stone - it's well worth the few moments it will take you to watch it.
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
This pendant will be delivered to you with Express Courier on a hand plaited adjustable cord. We will also include our 'Kia Ora' card, which explains the meaning behind the Manaia design.
