Tangiwai is scarcer than jade, found in Anita Bay - one small area in Pipiotahi, The Milford Sounds. Tangiwai is the most ancient form of pounamu and takes its name from the Māori 'tangi' - to cry and 'wai' - water, 'tears of sorrow'. It is the perfect stone for this marvellous pendant.
