HERITAGE is a hand crafted pendant replicating a panel from a wharenui.
This piece is finely carved by hand and is a beautiful, delicate pendant crafted by Master Bone Carver, Yuri Terenyi. Take a moment to view the video - this shows the fine carving and the intricacy of this design.
We have bound this with an adjustable cord so that this can be worn. Equally, it would make a gorgeous wall hanging or could be framed - it is superbly carved and is a culturally significant piece of work.
We have included a photo that shows an old lintel carving in wood. This is the inspiration for this piece. These carvings are found on Māori meeting houses and wharenui. They were commonly found decorating lintels and frames around doorways and windows and often depicted the history of the building - told stories about significant ancestors, and paid them respect.
We provide this pendant on a hand plaited gold and black, length adjustable cord.
