The little sister of our Memoir pendant... hand carved in woolly mammoth tusk - material over 30,000 years old. A beautifully balanced, hand carved koru pendant with Koru relief carving detail.

The Mammoth Tusk used for this piece is CERTIFIED 34,690 YEARS OLD (+/- 815 years). All our Woolly Mammoth Tusk pieces are provided with our certificate of authenticity.

We had our mammoth material carbon dated to get an accurate measure of its age. The testing was done for us by GNS Science, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute and New Zealand's leading provider of Earth, geoscience and isotope research - so their assessment of this material is as accurate as is possible using radiocarbon dating technology.

The Koru is a traditional Maori tribal symbol of creation, new beginnings, love, peace and harmony. The detailed carved design is used to talk about the past - the story of the tribe, or an individual, carved in wood or bone to preserve information for future generations.

This carving is presented in a traditional woven flax pouch. The cords are length adjustable.
