FIRST IN COMMAND - ONE ONLY
A flower jade Manaia sculpture hand carved by Ric Moor.
This is a beautiful, creative carving of the Manaia. The stone Ric has used for the manaia is a high quality New Zealand Marsden jade, the stone for the base is New Zealand greywacke.
FIRST IN COMMAND is a large and eye-catching Manaia - a fabulous display of New Zealand Flower Jade at its finest. This Manaia design has a wonderful flow and displays a great understanding, and use, of jade. This piece has a classic manaia head which drops through a weighty, gorgeous body and culminates in a a flowing, beautifully carved fish tail. The base is a solid piece of Greywacke that Ric collected from his local West Coast beach, and carved to provide a solid grounded base for this gorgeous sculpture.
FIRST IN COMMAND is a fantastic showcase piece!
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Hook: The wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.
We will include our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explain the meaning behind the Manaia and Hook design.
