The matau represents prosperity, determination and abundance. It is also said to represent a deep respect for the ocean. The fish hook is often worn as an amulet when traveling on a journey to provide protection, especially when traveling over water.
This jade matau pendant is bound with a waxed, hand plaited cord which is length adjustable.
