MY GUIDE is a great example of the two great skills required to produce beautiful jade art - an artistic vision for the stone, and the ability to transfer this to what is a very unforgiving medium. Kerry has brought his considerable skills to this piece and the result is beautiful.
The carved face on the outer edge is exquisite, a tranquil vision but with an imposing aura - this is a wonderful piece! The varied polish finish is also standout! A mix of high shine and dull matte which really accentuates the carving and adds to the mystique of the story this piece tells.
When held to the light the face becomes semi-translucent and glows. What we really love is the use of the stone. The face is pale and faultless - the rest of the koru a little darker with the odd speckled inclusion.
MY GUIDE is provided with an adjustable Kalahari Tan cord. If you would like a different coloured, or a fixed length cord - please let us know in the comments section at checkout.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
