It was hand made by a local artist using local materials - the beads are golden obsidian and green aventurine, and the central face from aventurine - a green quartz.

The figure displays the traditional prominent lips that are found on many statues an figurines throughout Mesoamerica. There are many theories about the history and meaning of these figures, but the artist in this case is representing the were-jaguar motif that is very widely found in art in the Olmec culture. The jaguar was, and still is, revered through the region as a sacred creature that represents spiritual power - it is central to life-giving rain and is bound to the earth.

This is a fabulous example of art from the Oaxaca region and we are delighted to have it available for sale.

Look at the photos and watch the brief video - this is a lively and very unique pendant. It is a good size, but light enough that it can be worn very comfortably.

ONE ONLY.

Shipping with Express Courier included in the price.

Artist: Angel tizóc Delgado

Material: Green Aventurine, Golden Obsidian

Cord Length: Adjustable - 44cm shortest, 58cm longest

Size of face: 40mm (1.6") long, 32mm (1.2") wide

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1063/1768/files/Ma2_4_03211020-f24d-4b5c-8559-01ec70efde3a.jpg?v=1792090421
