WITHIN THE CORE is a large, lightly polished Toki, carved from a wonderful piece of New Zealand flower jade. Soft, stunning and visually powerful. This piece reveals all the perfect imperfections of this wonderful stone - variation in colour, fracture lines and layered variation in the stones mineral content - there's nothing quite like this West Coast jade!
We have bound WITHIN THE CORE with colours you will find in nature - a burnt gold binding, and a fern green cord - these colours complement the stone.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE TOKI SHAPED PENDANT:
As an adornment, the Toki, or Adze, is said to bring courage and strength in times of adversity. It is a symbol of courage and strength in times of adversity and is often worn by Maori elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.
Maori believe that carvings carry the spirit of those who wear them, becoming an important family Taonga (treasure) passed on to future generations of the family as an heirloom.
