RUA - Carved from New Zealand Jade (Pounamu)
The artist, Kerry Thompson, named this wonderful toki RUA - a representation of two people coming together, working to create a strong and enduring relationship. The jade is a beautiful variegated green which shimmers and glows when the light passes across the pendant.
RUA is a large-sized Toki hand carved and polished to a low sheen. It has a good depth and a little heft, and is a substantial piece of New Zealand Jade. Carved with Kerry's exceptional attention to detail, this is a faultless carving. RUA is a piece that will be passed down through generations of a family - an heirloom.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful ....and this is a good one!
This beautiful Toki has two Koru carved into its centre - this symbolises fresh beginnings, a new start - the perfect pendant for someone taking on new challenges
Traditionally, the toki is worn to provide strength and courage to assist through life's challenges, and the koru is a symbol of rebirth, growth and new beginnings.
