MANAWA ORA - Breath of Life

In the artists words below...

This Taonga is named Manawa Ora which means breath of life.

The pattern on the cross contains a number of Koru depicted as a growing vine. For we are grafted into the vine through the gift of grace freely given. In general, the Koru represents new life and new beginnings.

The markings in between the Koru symbolise that we are carried, supported and nurtured by God's love.

MANAWA ORA really is a work of art to wear! This piece is carved from bone and stained for detail. The centre inlay is gorgeous Opal which represents the depths of abounding steadfast love.

Andrew has paired this lovely Cross with a beige adjustable cord. If you like handcrafted, traditional art to wear, and if you appreciate beautiful craftsmanship - check this piece out, it's a beauty!

Andrew provides a note to the holder of the carving, which is included in your package. This is special, as it creates a connection between the artist, Andrew, the carving and the owner of MANAWA ORA.

The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.  The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.

This pendant will be delivered to you on a plaited, adjustable cord.

We will also include our 'Kia Ora' card, which explains the meaning behind the Koru design.
