WALL HANGING TOKI
A spectacular large Toki sculpture for your wall, carved by Kerry Thompson.
This is a wonderful, traditional artwork carved in New Zealand Argillite - known locally as Pākohe. The detail in this piece is beautiful - kowhaiwhai designs carved into the front face, a black cord binding at the head of the blade and a hand woven hemp cord to suspend this sculpture from your wall.
This is a solid piece, weighing in at 782 grams.
WALL HANGING TOKI - ONE ONLY
Kerry has used a dual polish - parts a high shine and parts a soft matte - this draws out the carved design, and also gives the stone a remarkable contrast. When the light strikes the stone the design is beautifully highlighted in myriad ways.
What a superb sculptural piece by a Master carver and artist. A tactile work of art!
The Toki: Traditionally, the toki is worn to provide strength and courage to assist through life's challenges.
We will include our 'Kia Ora' card, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
