This toki is a beauty! Hand-carved by Kerry Thompson with technical precision and artistic vision.

The stone is a dense, deep green tangiwai pounamu, distinguished by naturally occurring silver flecks scattered throughout - iron minerals included during the stone's formation. These subtle variations lend the piece depth and character, catching light in ways that reward close examination.

Etched into the front face are complex koru designs, rendered with subtlety through contrasts in polish. Rather than commanding attention, they emerge quietly as light shifts across the surface - a deliberate approach that allows the stone to remain the focus while revealing its cultural layers to those who look closely.

Tangiwai is the most ancient form of pounamu and takes its name from the Māori 'tangi' - to cry and 'wai' - water, 'tears of sorrow'. It is the perfect stone for this marvellous pendant.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful ....and this is a good one!

Traditionally, the toki is worn to provide strength and courage to assist through life's challenges.
