BLUE FORTITUDE - a wonderful toki pendant, hand carved in Guatemalan Jadeite by Graeme Wylie.
Crafted from ancient Guatemalan jadeite, this lovely little toki pendant is a beauty. The jadeite itself, revered by the Mayans as a sacred, living stone, seems to hum with an inner vitality. Perhaps a reflection of their belief that it embody's sacred water, breath and regeneration. It is imbued with the wisdom of centuries.
Graeme has finished BLUE FORTITUDE with a soft polish, it glows, revealing the wonderful colour variation in the stone.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
