EARTH'S RIPPLES - ONE ONLY
A spectacular, New Zealand jade koru sculpture. Hand carved by Master Jade Carver - Ric Moor.
EARTH'S RIPPLES is a medium/large Koru with a greywacke stand. This is a fabulous display of New Zealand Jade carving at its finest. The jade Koru is a beautifully balanced piece, carved to highlight the cloud-like, pale inclusions scattered through the stone. Ric has a wonderful ability to create designs that work perfectly with the stone he has in hand. He has carved the koru into a part of the jade that is clean and relatively free of mineral inclusion. This has allowed the very fine work through the koru swirl. The carving is so fine it lets natural light spill through the stone. The effect is beautiful!
The Greywacke stand is made from a boulder that Ric collected from his local West Coast beach, and carved to cradle this gorgeous sculpture.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
We have one only.
