FERTILE GROUND

FERTILE GROUND - the right seed in the wrong soil has no chance to grow. A seed planted in FERTILE GROUND will bloom and flourish.
Same seed, different outcome - PLANT WISELY.
Two Manaia heads facing each other, joined with a complex, graceful body, tenuous yet strong. A spectacular work of art.
FERTILE GROUND is carved from bone and stained with an onion-skin based dye that Yuri makes himself to colour some of his carvings. It produces a deep coppery coloured finish which ages beautifully. Over time, the carving will wear and adapt to its environment. It will develop a patina that will be shaped by how it's worn - this pendant will more beautiful with time and wear!
The Carving: the eyes are made from local cold water Pāua shell - a beautiful fluorescent blue/green colour. The body is carved from natural bone. There is a delicacy to this piece which is very attractive, it looks striking and elegant when worn.
