This is a medium sized piece with a very large heart - a MIGHTY MATAU! Carved for us by Ric Moor, this is a lovely balanced piece, carved in a light, dappled moss green, piece of New Zealand jade.
MIGHTY MATAU is a bound Matau, carved with Ric's beautiful craftsmanship - he has finished it with a soft matte that really is gorgeous to handle. We finished this with a brown cord and head binding. MIGHTY MATAU is a pendant to wear all the time.
Ric has refined his own methods to finish his pieces. He prefers a soft matte finish to a higher polish because, with time and wear, the pendant adapts and changes with the owners lifestyle, and becomes in his view a 'better' piece. Certainly, Ric's finishe produces a wonderful satin matte look with a beautiful tactile feel!
