This Mango, or Shark, is carved from New Zealand Pounamu. A beautiful piece of stone, and perfect for this design!
Rueben has selected a kokopu stone which has a distinct speckled appearance - it adds mystique to the design, and in many ways creates the aura of a cruising predator! The soft matte finish adds to this. Rueben has engraved a wave design into the lower half of the shark and extended this through the tail - a very subtle addition in a waved, koru form that adds character to the look, and to the feel of this gorgeous carving.
This really is a beautifully carved piece of art to wear - exceptional design and workmanship!
