OCEAN’S OPUS

This little piece is a great example of creative and artistic carving, and reflects an appreciation for creatures of the ocean. Fumio has used a piece of deer antler to its very best effect here. He has utilised the variation of the antler to create a very lifelike representation of a sea-weathered pāua shell - inside he has lined the antler with a polished piece of shell. The overall effect is a wonderful rendition of this hardy, monovalve mollusc!

Take a close look at the photos and the very brief video to appreciate Fumio's skill. In carving OCEAN’S OPUS, like all his art, he has paid an enormous attention to detail. This sets his work apart, producing gorgeous art to wear.
