This larger sized drop shaped pendant is known as a comfort stone and is worn to soothe, heal and provide positive energy. PIOPIOTAHI is a beautiful deep green when it is worn, but hold it up to the light and it glows, and reveals its interesting internal structure.
Tangiwai is scarcer than jade, found in Anita Bay - one small area in Pipiotahi, The Milford Sounds. If you've ever travelled down to the South Western corner of New Zealand, that is home to this marvellous stone, you'll appreciate the beauty of this region - and this is a little piece of that magic!
Tangiwai is the most ancient form of pounamu and takes its name from the Māori 'tangi' - to cry and 'wai' - water, 'tears of sorrow'. It is the perfect stone for what is a fine and marvellous pendant.
