TWILIGHT ZONE - a very cool, large, hand carved whale bone Toki.
This is carved from the rib of a whale that beached on the northern beaches in New Zealand. it is a beautifully grained piece - plenty of character but tight enough to take on a good polish. This will be a beautiful toki to wear.
We have bound this with a Grey/Fern Green cord and Fern Green Binding on the head of the toki. The cord can be adjusted so you can position the pendant where it suits you best.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
