Kerry has thought this design through and carved it with care down to the final detail. This is a piece he has held in his collection for some time, so we are delighted to have it available to offer.
WINGED MESSENGER is a stylised Tui feather. The Tui is a native New Zealand bird and is really regarded as a national heritage animal. Māori belief is that the tui is a messenger to the Goddesses and Gods - that they provide a medium to communicate with higher beings. Tui are associated with spiritual harmony and condfidence - if you have ever watched these confident, cheeky birds in action you will share this perception!
Hand carved from Black Jade, Kerry has given the body a matte finish and has polished the shaft to a high shine. We love this union of matte and polished - it gives the carving texture and depth.
With a Koru design carved on either side, we think this is a beautiful representation of two people coming together in order to fly!
At the base of the pendant, Kerry has united the Black Jade with gorgeous Mother of Pearl - a glorious combination of black and pearly white. We don't often see Mother of Pearl with a matte texture, this is a clever refinement that complements and decorates the black stone perfectly.
WINGED MESSENGER is provided with a fixed length cord and Black Jade toggle. If you would like an adjustable cord, or a different coloured cord with the loop and toggle - please let us know in the comments section at checkout.
