This beautiful, contemporary HUIA bird pendant has just arrived from Rhys Hall! This is a fantastic piece of carved art, and like all of Rhys's work, the craftsmanship is exceptional!
Rhys has used a piece of Argillite Stone to create the body of this pendant. For the bird's wattle (the little tuft of feathers at the base of the beak) Rhys has used a beautiful piece of Raukaraka Pounamu. The eye is made from Mahogany Obsidian (from Lake Taupo) with a little argillite beach pebble for the centre - which gives this HUIA an edgy stare!
We love the texture Rhys has given the background - a great contrast between the rugged material the piece is carved from and the beautifully crafted design. This is another great example of Rhys's creative design. He pays tremendous attention to detail and his carving is flawless.
The cord is a fixed length and has a loop and pebble fixture - handmade and perfect. If you would like a different length cord, or one that can be adjusted, please let us know in the comments field at the checkout, and we will make that change for you.
