OCEAN'S MIGHT - a lovely, medium sized, whale bone Toki pendant

OCEAN'S MIGHT is carved from a chunky piece of rib bone and exhibits the beautiful textured grain that is typical of whale rib.

The bone is polished to a soft shine to soften and smooth the texture and handle. We have teamed this up with our Whiorau cord and a Sage Green binding on the head of the toki. Subtle colours that accentuate the beauty of this wonderful piece.

This particular bone came from a rib and shows the characteristic granular look that we love in this material. It's structured, a little weathered and a great tribute to these mighty ocean mammals.

The bone is polished to a soft shine on the front - the back exhibits the highly textured structure typical of bone from the rib.

Carved from whalebone, OCEAN'S MIGHT is a tough toki made to be worn. It will get better with wear and age, so don't be afraid to make it a constant companion.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
