PAKURATAHI - named after the stunning PAKURATAHI forest just north of our home here in New Zealand. A forest reserve full of the gorgeous mysteries that you find in our native bush. The Pounamu Kerry has used has all the striking colours of the forest.

PAKURATAHI is a large Koru carved in Kerry's unique style. Notable is the scale like filets he has carved into the shaft. He has been very generous with the stone giving the pendant a weighty body with heft. It is a marvellous piece that looks and feels wonderful. This is a piece of jewellery that has presence and gravitas.

Kerry has finished PAKURATAHI in a lovely soft polish. The finish accentuates the depth of the jade, and it allows the variation in colours to emerge. A remarkable carving and a very bold piece of traditional jewellery.

If you would like to own a superb carving by Kerry Thompson, PAKURATAHI might be the piece for you.

What does the Koru represent...

The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.  The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.

PAKURATAHI is provided with a fixed length black cord and Jade toggle. If you would like an adjustable cord, or a different coloured cord with the loop and toggle - please let us know in the comments section at checkout.

Also included, our 'Kia ora' card, which explains the meaning behind the Koru design.
