RANGINUI - Sky Father

Hand carved by Ross Crump - a medium sized manaia pendant. The jade is a very dark green Kawakawa - you can see the stone best in the photos and in the video.

This is a beautiful piece of carved art. The jade is a lustrous, dark green with subtle hints of gold and mint - an exceptional piece of stone.

Worn, RANGINUI appears a deep green, but when the light hit the stone it glows a dark green. Backlit, the jade displays a gorgeous filmy translucence, and dark speckled inclusions that set this Kawakawa stone apart!

To appreciate the design, take a moment to watch the short video. This shows the piece slowly rotating and will give you a clear view of the shape and the colour of the jade.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE DESIGN ELEMENTS...

The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.

The matau, or hook pendant is revered throughout the South Pacific as a symbol for life, well-being and prosperity. Its significance arises from the key role that fishing has played in sustaining island families and communities. The owner of a good hook was respected and held a place of authority in the community.

We provide RANGINUI with a Manuka Green plaited cord which is length adjustable.

We will also include our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Manaia and Hook design.

Delivery with Express Courier is included in the price.
